Pastor Dr. James Smith
Bio:
James accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on February 1, 1985. He began preaching and witnessing about the Good News
of Jesus Christ in 1989. Since that time he has traveled across North America and parts of Latin America telling the story about how
Jesus dramatically changed his life, and has been totally committed to reaching the lost, the un-churched and uncommitted with the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. The lives of people from all walks of life have been changed and transformed through this ministry.
In 1997 Pastor Smith was the recipient of The Harry Denman Award from the North Georgia Conference, one of the United Methodist Church’s highest recognition for Evangelism. After serving as pastor of churches within the Rome-Carrollton District he embarked on a journey in 2001 as a full time evangelist and was named “Evangelist of the Year” in 2002. His travels included preaching in over 300 churches within the southeast of various denominations, (Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Church of God, Holiness, Pentecostal and Independent Community Churches); a simple message of sin and salvation, spiritual growth and maturity through the power of the Holy Spirit. He has served several Methodist churches in North Georgia and is currently serving as pastor of the Wesley Chapel Church in Eatonton, Georgia. He has also preached several Camp Meetings, Revivals, Homecomings, and Faith Encounter Events across the country as well as in China, Korea, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica and Ecuador and other countries around the world.
James has received recognition of induction as a Fellow in the Society of John Wesley. Fellows in the Society of John Wesley are known by their witness, vision and stewardship that enhance and strengthen the mission and ministry of the church.He is a member of the National Association of United Methodist Evangelists.
Locally, he is a member of the Domestic Violence Task Force and represents victims of domestic violence in the Omulgee Judicial Circuit court system as well as contributing spiritual counseling. Other civic groups include supporting children’s education and vitality through the Kiwanis, prayer ministry with the Putnam County Board of Education and Commissioners. Other local ministries include nursing home, senior citizens, children in poverty, ministerial associations, and was recently the head Spiritual Director on the last Oconee River Basin Walk To Emmaus.
